CHAPTER ZERO

Red Dead Pokémon in the wild west!

Kingdark: I originally got tis idea because of all the hype around Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) when it came out in late 2018. There are several serious Pokémon stories out there, but none that take place in the wild west! One such example is the one piece / Pokémon crossover story. Read it. It’s very good. Then I thought, why not see if I can write such a story but in the wild west instead? The wild west of RDR 2.

Now, there are a few things that I think are important to know, before you start reading. You may skip it, but I would suggest you at least give it a look.

1. This is a crossover between Pokémon and red dead redemption 2. SPOILERS may be ahead of you. Read at your own risk.
2. There will be TWO versions of this story.
a. The Safe For Work version will still be mature and violent, but will have no abdl content.
b. The Not Safe For Work version will include infantilism and diapers.
3. THIS STORY IS THE NSFW VERSION. SEE 1.b FOR WHAT THAT MEANS.
4. The technology will be as historically accurate as possible. The only exceptions are: poké balls, teaching machines (TM’s) but both are horribly expensive to make and are as likely to fail as they are to succeed.
5. The price of items in this story will be what you pay today. Not what you would have paid around 1890’s.
6. Team Rocket will be and IS a powerful gang with connections on every level and spies everywhere. They are feared, dangerous and highly violent. They have existed even before the new world was colonized. They will not be incompetent morons.
7. Pokémon trainers are employed by the American military, villages or they can act as mercenaries.
a. The more badges they have, the more authority that they can claim for themselves.
b. The badges come in the form of semi-magical tattoo’s that cannot be faked.

That’s it! No more info dumping for you!

CHAPTER ONE

Prologue…
It is the month of April in the year of 1897, thirty years after the American Civil war had ended. It was then that slavery was finally declared to be fully illegal where you would be severely punished. Officially, at least. In practice, slavery and bigotry still exist and would persist for decades yet to come, especially in the southern states. Bigotry just doesn’t disappear because of some silly law. Even now, thirty years later, racism based on skin color, creed, sexual orientation and faith still exist. Because of the civil war, the trainers that had been patrolling the new world had all been conscripted to fight for whatever states they had been in at the time.

During the civil war and the chaos that followed, hundreds of trainers and Pokémon had fought and died. Because they were forcefully conscripted or because they believed in their cause. Whatever the case may be, when the war was over, their numbers had been considerably reduced. Only now, nearly thirty years later were the numbers back to what they originally were before the war…

It is in the month of April in the year of 1896. Sixteen -year-old Ash, Lee, Ketchum, or just Ash to his friends, graduates from the Trainer Academy at fort Pallet, as the number top one graduate, just after his closest friend and rival Gary Oak. Ash and Gary enjoyed a hate-love relationship where one moment they would die for each other and at another they would be at each other’s throats. At the same time, Ash and Gary were some of the best graduates that had every graduated since the academy had been founded!

Where Ash had an exceptional talent for bonding and training Pokémon, Gary excelled in inventing and crafting things. He was especially good in making poké balls that had a much higher chance of success than poké balls that weren’t made by him. But just because he was good in making things didn’t mean he wasn’t a competent trainer. Gary was just as good as Ash when it came to training and bonding with Pokémon. It was just that his passion was on the more scientific side of things. Gary Oak was the Grandson of Samuel Oak, one of the most famous and well-known people in all of America. When Sam had died, Gary had inherited all of Sam’s journals and papers with his money inheritance being released in parts. Gary was convinced that his grandfather was still alive because of the coded warning in the last entry of his journal. It placed Sam somewhere in this state and Gary fully intended to track him down. Dead or alive. Gary’s skillset made him an exceptional high target for gangs such as the Rockets or even government officials should it become widely known what Gary could do.

Ash and Gary were joined by Misty, an orphan female trainer who had joined the Academy under a lot of protest from the male dominated trainer society. Misty had her own talents, but they were more focused on infiltration and scouting ahead. Very few people would even know she was there if she didn’t want you to.

Finally, their little group was rounded off By Brock. An orphan as well and the only colored person to ever join the academy (under a huge amounts of protests) since the academy was founded. Brock knew survival like the back of his hand. He could hunt and capture just about anything if you asked him to.

This group of four had proven themselves to be exceptional students and had constantly been in the top three, with just a few points difference during the entirety of their training with Ash leading them and keeping them united.

1-04-1896

Fort Pallet, near Blackwater…
“…And so, I declare the graduating class of 1895-1896 to have officially graduated from this institution!” The fort’s commander declared with gusto!

All thirty graduates began cheering loudly, throwing their hats in the air and a couple even dared to shoot a few rounds in the air. Something that had been extremely frowned about during their training.

“Alright, alright, settle down lads.” The commander said good naturedly.

“Because even if you have graduated, I can still nail you with latrine duty until your orders come through the telegraph and I can pretend I haven’t received your orders for a couple of weeks before I have to give them to you…”

Immediately, the cheering stopped, and everyone defaulted to parade rest. The commander immediately guffawed loudly at the response of his graduates. It took several moments before the commander managed to calm himself, and when he did, he attempted to continue the speech he had prepared.

“It’s good to know that the threat of latrine duty hasn’t stopped being so effective.” The commander remarked cheerfully, prompting a few nervous chuckles from the crowd.

“Come on now guys! You’re graduated! I’m not that much of a bastard that I would punish you with latrine duty on the day of graduation, right?”

None of the graduates dared to answer that question, because one way or another, it wouldn’t end well for them. It was best to keep quiet in this particular case.

“Ah, alright, enough fooling around! I won’t be keeping you lads around for too much longer, but I still have a few more things to say. After all, after this, you’ll finally get paid and you’ll be allowed to visit Blackwater to… Well, I’m sure I don’t want to know what good and healthy young men will be up to. Just make sure to leave your partners and your guns in the fort. There will be enough security to catch any… Situation.”

“Now, on to business! As you all probably know, normally we have one or maybe two graduates that have proven themselves throughout the year. This year though is different. This year we don’t have two graduates of such high caliber! We don’t even have three candidates but FOUR! There’s no doubt in my mind that you all know who I’m talking about. They have battled for the number one spot throughout the year and they have been at one point or another at number one, two, three and number four. I can’t predict the future, but watch my word, when I say that what these four have done, will not be repeated any time soon! Give them a mighty applause, since they rightfully deserve it! C’mon lads, let them hear it!”

There existed a sort of polite rivalry with the other trainer academy’s in other states. So, this was a point of pride for all of them! And it wasn’t that they didn’t deserve it either! Once the applause had settled down, the commander continued his speech.

“It is with the outmost pleasure that I award Ash Lee Ketchum, Gary Oak, Misty of Blackwater and Brock of Blackwater with their first badge straight from the start! All four of you are expected in my office, once the neutral trainer has arrived, for you to battle and so you can go through the ceremony.

The commander looked down at his papers and made a show to look through them, before he threw them over his shoulders. “I considered dragging this out for as long as I could, but I changed my mind. Get out of here! All of ye!” The commander ordered.

“Don’t you get back here unless you got yourself the most painful hangover!” The commander shouted after them, as the new trainers scrambled to obey.

The recruits, now officially trainers didn’t take much time to did as they were told. All of them hurried to their quarters to get changed, prepare themselves some money to buy themselves all the drink they could want.

The next day…

2-04-1896
Ash groaned in discomfort as he slowly woke up. His head was killing him and the taste in his mouth… It was enough to make him want to hurl.

“Ugh, I swear I don’t see the appeal of getting drunk, if this is the result.” The teenager muttered.

“…You’re telling me.” Someone responded next to him.

Ash cracked open his eyes and bit back a moan of discomfort to look at the person that had just spoken up. It took Ash a moment to realize that the person in his bed was entirely nude. It only took a mere moment to confirm that he too was wearing nothing but his birthday suit, and for his body to react appropriately by lying next to a beautiful woman.

Ignoring his body’s natural reaction, Ash instead opted to try and figure out just what had happened for him to be lying in a bed with someone he hadn’t seen before in his life.

“I’m terribly sorry, but… Who are you and how did you end up in my bed?” Ash asked, barely able to suppress a blush.

“It is the other way around actually.” The woman corrected him gently.

“But I take it that you don’t remember much about last night?”

Ash frowned, and he tried to remember. Flashes of him holding cards and crying out in triumph when he appeared to have the better cards. Himself picking a fight with someone when he heard him insult women in general.

“I think I remember bits and pieces.” Ash said instead. It was best to play dumb and see what happened and keep it as vague as possible.

“Did I get into a fistfight with someone? Because I feel kind of sore.”

The woman next to him offered him a wide grin.

“Sure, let’s go with that.” The woman, who still hadn’t introduced herself agreed.

Ash just shot her a deadpan stare and she relented.

“Alright, ruin my fun. No, you didn’t get into a fistfight or anything, but you did get involve yourself into an argument I was having with someone.”

“I see. I think I sort of remember that. But I can’t remember for the life of me, what it was about. Except… Did I play poker? Please tell me I didn’t, because I’m terrible at playing poker!” And he really was. Gary had tried to teach him, playing with just a couple of dollars for fun and not for profit. But he had never seemed to be able to win. Not even when Gary was trying to let him win.

“Well, you did.” The woman confirmed. “Play poker, I mean.”

“That’s just great. Do I even have any money left?”

The woman snorted, as if he had said something incredibly amusing.

“Trust me, you’re the furthest thing from being broke.”

“Meaning?” Ash asked impatiently.

“Well, you got me for starters.” The woman said with a shrug.

Ash just stared at the woman, his amusement being replaced with panic.

“Please tell me, I acquired you as a slave? Because if I somehow did, I’ll free you immediately. Ash Ketchum is many things, but a slave owner is not one of them.”

“I’m not your slave.” The woman was quick to reassure him.

“But,” She said quickly, holding up her hands to stop Ash from saying anything, “You still own me in a matter of speaking.”

“Would you speak plainly already woman?” Ash demanded impatiently. “You’re starting to confuse me!”

“Fair enough.” The woman acknowledged.

“Alright, it’s like this. I was minding my own business when the loan shark I borrowed money from moved into my personal place and demanded I pay him all that I owe. Which I couldn’t, because I spend most of it to take care of my son. He was deadly ill, you see and… Well, let’s just say that the only thing I was able to do for him was make his passing as comfortable as possible.”

“My condolences for your loss.” Ash said after a moment.

“Thank you.” She acknowledged.

“Anyway, I had made it clear to the loan shark for what reasons I needed the money and how much time I would need to acquire the money to pay him back. Him getting into my personal space like that was confusing, since we only talked a few weeks ago and infuriating. You had been enjoying your drink next to me and we had only exchanged pleasantries. You took offense in my place for the way he talked to me and he demanded his apology.”

“That sounds like something I would do.” Ash agreed.

“Well, the man refused to apologize, and he then threatened to sell me to the Saloon as one of its girls.”

“I told him that I could him, part of the money I owed him in a few weeks, so he just had to be patient. The man refused and told me I had two days to get the money I owed him, or I would be earning the money I owed him on my back. Again, you took exception to that and it snowballed into you challenging him into a game of poker.”

“I don’t get it. Poker is something I rarely win at so why would last night be different?”

“Does it really matter? The point is that you were damn good at it and if it weren’t for the fact that EVERYBODY in the saloon last night was watching your game, accusations of cheating would have surely followed.”

“I see.” Ash mused. “Alright, so how much did you owe the loan shark exactly and how much did I end up winning?”

“I owed him three thousand dollars. He placed down my contract on the table, and you and he both agreed it’s worth was about three thousand dollars. He exchanged that in chips. You only had about five hundred dollars on you, but the loan shark agreed to let you play anyway.”

“That’s not very smart.” Ash pointed out. “Why would he do something like that?”

“I don’t know, and I honestly don’t care either.”

“You lost a few hands, you won a few hands, but eventually both of you agreed to bet everything you had on the cards you had. If you won, you would inherit my debt and he would be out of three thousand dollars. If he won, it would net him everything you had on you. The guy that owned the saloon, interfered at that point, and asked for each of you to confirm the terms you had agreed to, so no accusations could be thrown around.”

“Yhea, Alfred is sharp like that.” Ash agreed immediately.

“You had the better cards, so you won.”

“Alright, so bottom-line it for me. My head is killing me, the taste in my mouth is bad enough I want to hurl and I’m sure that if anyone caught a whiff of my breath, they would drop dead.”

“Fair enough.” The woman agreed.

“Do you want the truth such as it is, or do you want me to dress it up a little?”

Ash just chuckled.

“Lady, I’m the kind of guy with principles and lines that I don’t cross, not for anything in the world. Just tell me already and get it over with.”

“You inherited my contract which means I owe you three thousand dollars. You also doubled the amount of money you stared off with when the loan shark tried to win my debt back.”

“Alright, so what does this mean for you exactly?” Ash wanted to know.

“That depends.” The woman said with a shrug.

“I have no roots here, and I know you’re a trainer. I also know that trainers never stay long in one place and the good ones tend to acquire a… Following. I will follow you, clean for you and cook for you. Other than that, I only demand that you try to keep me as safe as is realistic and enough food and water to make me comfortable.”

“Also, this,” and she pointed towards her lower region. “Is yours to explore at your leisure, but only you.”

Ash tried to keep his blush under control at the implication.

“Speaking off, did we… I mean, have we… That is to say, did I lose my err…”

Ash decided that retreat was his best option at that moment, so he quickly threw back the sheets and retreated towards the bathroom.

“If you’ll excuse me for a moment, but nature calls. We’ll continue this conversation after I get back.”

He hurried to the bathroom and ten minutes later, he entered the room again. Ash felt kind of conscious about his nudity, since Ash junior was still standing at attention, fully expecting to get the usual attention, only to be denied. It was strange, but he didn’t care much about nudity around his friends, but this woman just drove him crazy.

“Alright then.” Ash muttered, as he sat down on the bed, not bothering to dress himself jus yet.

“It occurred to me a few moments ago, that I haven’t introduced myself either. My name is Ash Lee Ketchum. Born and raised in Blackwater at your service.

“My, my, you really are a polite young man, aren’t you?” The woman asked as she licked her lips.

“But I suppose I have teased you enough already. Alright, let me get that uncomfortable question out of the way first, but before I do that, let me explain myself first. I already told you I had a son, right? He got sick he did. He didn’t make it. You reminded me of him. Just as polite. Just as excited about everything. After you won, I escorted you to a room in the saloon. Before you woke up, Alfred, I think you called him, the owner of this place? Anyway, he knocked opened the door just a bit and told me that apparently, the loan shark had taken all my clothing I left behind in storage downstairs. I don’t even have clothes now. Anyway, you were still fast asleep and after you pleasured me so enthusiastically, I wanted to wake you up as pleasantly as possible. I undressed you and that’s when I felt you waking up. So, to answer that question you tried to ask so politely, we haven’t fucked each other senseless. Yet.”

“You don’t even have any clothes? Then we need to do something about that immediately.” Ash tried to ignore the voice that sounded suspiciously a lot like Gary’s that told him not to ignore the offer and to make himself a man for real!

“I’m terribly sorry, but I want my first time to be special.” Ash said quietly.

“So, you want your first time to be all awkward?” The woman asked sharply.

“I can see where you’re coming from, but I’m certain that whoever you end with, would want a man that knows how to make her scream out in pleasure.”

The woman threw the sheets off her and stood up, Ash's eyes following her every movement. “Don’t you want to know how to pleasure a woman?”

Ash's answer was what any hotblooded male, not gay would answer.

Much later…

Ash threw off the sheets for the third time that day, and he finally remembered that the woman still hadn’t shared her name with him.

“You still haven’t told me you know. Your name. That’s kind of awkward I admit.”

“You’re right, I haven’t. But let me help you to get dressed first.” She ignored Ash's attempts to stop her and eventually he just let her do what she wanted. Which was letting her dress him for the most part.

“I’m not a child you know. I can dress myself.” Ash complained, even though he let her do as she wanted.

“You most certainly aren’t a child.” The woman agreed. Giving his privates a gentle squeeze before pulling up his trousers.

“My name is Sabrina. Sabrina Hanako at your service.” She finally introduced herself. “And you should know that I am a very stubborn woman mister Ketchum. One that always pays her debts. Even if it takes me awhile to do it.”

“So, Mister Ash Lee Ketchum…. What is our next move?”

“Just Ash, please. Not Lee. Not Ashly. Just Ash. My full name makes me feel like I’m in trouble and I don’t like my second name and I certainly don’t want to have the name of a girl.”

“Mister Ketchum then. Did your mum think you were a girl before you were born?” Sabrina asked with an amused smile.

“…It was a compromise between her and my old man. He liked Lee and my mum liked Ashly and well… When you say the name slowly…”

“Not to worry, I was just teasing you.” Sabrina reassured.

“The first thing I’ll do, is visited the general store and tell him to come here with clothes for you. I certainly can’t take you out naked. That’s step one. Step two is going back to Fort Pallet as soon as possible.”

“Do you know where you’re supposed to go or what your orders are going to be?”

“No.” Ash admitted. Since I graduated with High Honor, I have command of a unit of four in total. That means we can tackle harder problems then regular trainers. The rest of my class will be sent to other parts of the country on their own, though they might travel together for awhile until they go their separate ways.”

“I see. Will it be a problem that I will join you?”

“…I don’t think so. If the mission is classified, you will have to either sign papers to read you in or you will have to stay behind or leave us to our meetings if we have to discuss it.” Ash answered.

“Anyway, I’m going to the general store immediately. I’ll pay Alfred a few dollars to keep this room ours for the time being. I’ll be back as quickly as I can, I promise.” With that statement, Ash left the room. Sabrina heard him walk downstairs and after a short conversation, saw him leave the saloon.

Sabrina busied herself with cleaning the room up some. She had nothing better to do. Then she visited the bathroom to do her business as she waited for Ash to return.

“Sabrina? It’s Ash. Do you want to me be in the room, or is it okay for the general store aid to enter? It’s a woman, and not a guy, so don’t worry about that.”

“Wait downstairs for me, would you?” Sabrina called back.

“Sure. You can buy whatever clothes and supplies you need.” Ash said through the door, after the aid had entered. “I’ll be waiting downstairs.”

The aid unpacked the clothes she had taken with her, and Sabrina wasted no time picking out the clothes she liked best. She wasn’t a city girl and liked her clothes to be useful and practical. It only took her thirty minutes to make her choice from the clothes available to her and once she got dressed, she made a few more choices from the book the aid had taken with her.It was three quarter of an hour later, that Sabrina left her room and walked downstairs.

Ash looked up and drained the glass he was holding. He paid what he owed and immediately walked towards Sabrina.

“Sabrina?” And here, Ash lowered his voice as he led her outside. “I forgot to ask you something. I realized that I should have had a thousand bucks with me. But I only had half that. Do you know where the other halve is?”

Ash had barely asked the question, when Sabrina retrieved a bundle of money from…. Somewhere.

“I’ve got it right here. Five hundred dollars.”

“Good. Did you buy anything from the general store?”

“I did.” Sabrina confirmed. “Several spare sets of clothes and more supplies.”

“Good.” Ash nodded. “Listen, I was thinking, and I’ve decided that you can consider the five hundred dollars I won last night, yours, so you can buy supplies, food, guns or whatever else you need for the immediate future.”

“Does that mean that I owe you three thousand five hundred dollars or…”

“No. It’s yours. I suppose that you could technically give it to me, and you’d have paid me five hundred dollars, but I really want you to have it. No questions asked.”

“Alright.” Sabrina said finally. “We should first visit the general store and see how long it’s going to take for my clothes to be ready.”

“Fair enough.” Ash replied with a nod. It only took them a few moments to walk to the general store and from the moment the owner saw them, he retreated to the back of the store to pick up the package that Sabrina had ordered.

“Three sets of spare change, food, drink, a good gun and enough ammo to last you a long journey. That comes to about one hundred and fifty dollars.”

Sabrina reluctantly, parted with the money, since it was a considerable amount, but at least, this would last her awhile.

Ash accepted the package and nodded in appreciation. “Enough to last you awhile, but not enough to burden my Ponyta with.”

Ash whistled sharply and as soon as he did, one of the Ponyta, that were waiting for their owners came towards Ash at a slow trot. The Ponyta that responded was a beautiful specimen with a scar across its right eye.

“Sabrina, please meet Scar. He’s the best steed a man could ask for. Do you know how to introduce yourself to a Ponyta without risking getting burned?

“…No.” She admitted honestly.

“Good. At least you’re honest. Ponyta burns are nasty and hard to deal with. First, you approach him from the front and you offer him his hand. Let him smell it for a while and introduce yourself. Then you ask him if you may touch him and if he allows it, you try to pet him. Then you let him smell you a second time and you ask if he will carry you. If he agrees, we can mount up and leave.”

“And if he doesn’t?”

“You walk the way to fort Pallet.” Ash answered with a shrug.

“Scar is a very good judge of character though.” Ash added as an afterthought.

Sabrina cautiously walked to the front and let Scar smell her hands. Near immediately, the Ponyta pushed its own head to her hand so she could scratch it.

“Will you carry me?” Sabrina asked, but the words had barely left, or the Ponyta was already pushing its side towards her.

“Well, I guess he’ll carry you.” Ash remarked. Inwardly, he was incredibly surprised because Scar hated strangers. He had half hoped that she wouldn’t be able to touch him, dismiss those debts of her and… Be rid of her? Ash frowned, and he wasn’t sure where that thought had come from.

“No. not get rid of her. I just want her to have a chance to live in a town and not on the road. If Scar trusts her, then she’s trustworthy.”

Ash mounted Scar and helped Sabrina up as well. “Let’s go. It’s not that far on horseback.”

Ash took the supplies and put them away in Scar’s saddlebags. Then he mounted his Ponyta and helped Sabrina do the same. Ash then directed Scar towards the edge of the village, and once they passed the border, they took off at a gentle gallop.

Note: this is the divergence point. The above will be identical in the SFW (safe for work) version and the NSWF (NOT safe for work) version, which is the one you are reading right now. Once more, I will warn you that there will be abdl content. When I say abdl content, I mean bedwetting, incontinence, characters that (must) wear diapers, humiliation and regression. This is a story about Ash's struggles in a world where colored men and women are still considered to be trash by a lot of people. This is the only time in the ENTIRE story, where I interrupt it like this.

As they were riding, Ash reflected that he had been very lucky today. Lucky during the last night as well.

“Man, I don’t know how I managed to win, but am I glad that I did.” Ash thought to himself.

“Incidentally, I’m also relieved that I woke up dry. I have no idea how I would have reacted if I had woken up wet like usual. It’s embarrassing enough that it is pretty much an open secret that I wet the bed and wear diapers as a precaution, but fuck, I think it would be more embarrassing if I confronted someone else with it, when they were in the same bed to boot.” Ash thought.

Ash hadn’t just paid Alfred to keep the room for a few extra hours, but he had also paid the man a few dollars to thank him for watching out for him.

X Back in Blackwater, in the saloon. X

Alfred liked to do his own cleaning when he wanted to think. People laughed at a male doing a woman’s work, but he didn’t care about that. Alfred was just about done with the room that Ash and that woman, Sabrina he thought Ash called her had used.

“Huh. I suppose I can’t call Ash a boy anymore.” The man thought absently.

“I wonder if I should’ve warned Ash that I told her about his open secret…” The man knew that it had to be embarrassing, but if figured it was better to warn the woman, so she knew what might happen, then to humiliate the poor lad in the morning if she didn’t know the truth.

X Back with Ash and Sabrina X

“Fuck, does that mean I will have to tell her?” Ash asked himself with a frown.

“Huh, should I have protested more when she tried to dress me? I didn’t protest too much, but if she thinks I wet the bed on purpose… Fuck. What do I do?”

Ash didn’t pay much attention to the road. He let Scar lead the way, because he knew the way and had done it plenty of times already.

“Still, I’m certain I can hide it for a little while, but not permanently. Maybe I can use that as an excuse to just send her on her way? It’s not that I don’t want her to join us, she’s a beautiful woman and eager to please but… Fuck, am I falling for her already? No. That’s not happening!” Ash shook his head to clear it. He would deal with that later.

Ash hated the fact that he wet the bed. He loathed it, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. It just happened. Had happened ever since he got into that fist fight when he was younger. It was bad enough that Gary, Brock and Misty knew. Hell, he hated the fact that his bedwetting was pretty much an open secret, not talked about out in the open out of respect for his own privacy.

“I want to trust Sabrina with this secret. I do. But I don’t know if I can handle, seeing the woman I had sex with look at me with disgust.”

Since Sabrina was just behind him, riding on Scar, he never noticed the surprised look on Sabrina’s face. Nor did he see that surprised look into a thoughtful one and then into a wide grin before she schooled it again.

Fifteen minutes later…

As Ash approached the fort, traffic became increasingly busy. Soldiers coming and going and even several trainers who had graduated passed him by. Most of them were still suffering from a hangover, but they were still leaving to complete their first mission. Or so most of them said.

“Though, if I had to guess, they’ll probably crash at the first convenient location until those hangovers pass.” Ash thought absently.

“Speaking of a hangover, I wonder if it’s because I can simply take my booze, because I got a strong stomach or because I’m a fast healer that I’m feeling increasingly better?” Ash was distracted from his thoughts by someone practically yelling in his ear.

“KETCHUM!”

Ash reacted as he had been taught and punched the one that had surprised him in the face.

“WHAT THE FUCK MAN?!” The guy said indignantly.

“…Take that as a lesson, recruit. You don’t shout in the ear of someone that’s obviously distracted. Be glad it was the only thing I did or that Scar didn’t kick you in the balls.”

‘…’ The recruit said.

“Exactly.” Ash agreed.

“Now, could you please repeat what you said in a normal fashion?”

“Err... Yes sir.” The recruit said sheepishly. “The commander wants to see you immediately, like ten minutes ago!”

“Alright. Thank you for telling me and remember not to surprise someone like that. I could’ve really hurt you!”

“Yes sir.” The recruit agreed and left immediately.

“Oi Ketchum, did they already tell you to go to the commander’s office?” Another recruit shouted, just as the other recruit had left.

“…They did.” Ash agreed.

“Then what the fuck are you still doing on the ground floor? And don’t forget to take your new fuck toy with you as well! I hear she can do that thing- with her-”

Ash didn’t let that trainee finish, instead he whistled sharply and almost instantly, his partner, a larger than average Pikachu appeared from somewhere to land on the ground.

“What the fuck did you just say?” Ash demanded.

“Apologize right this instant, or I swear you’ll regret it.”

The trainee stared at Ash for several long moments before he began to laugh hysterically.

“Ah, that’s a good one Ketchum. You nearly had me there! Apologize to a woman? Ha! That’s a good one! Only good for fucking they are-”

Ash was done listening to this brat. A second to last year trainee to boot. He should know better.

“Pikachu! Tackle that runt. Gently. Don’t hurt him too badly though but make sure he’ll feel it in the morning.”

The Pokémon responded to his order immediately and tackled the trainee in his back, gently. Well, gently for his Pikachu.

The unfortunate trainee was thrown into the air before landing painfully on the ground. Ash ignored the commotion around him and approached the trainee in front of him.

“If you had just apologized, then you wouldn’t be in this mess. I am your superior now runt, and that means I can make your life fucking miserable. Now, I’m a nice guy, so I’m going to give you one last chance to apologize. It just won’t be with your pride and dignity intact. Go on your knee’s and beg that lady for her forgiveness. And you better make it believable runt, or I swear you won’t like what I’ll do next! Now get on your feet! The trainee painfully got to his feet and immediately stood at attention.

“I’m waiting, runt. Apologize already, or I’ll take your refusal as subordination!” Technically, Ash didn’t have the authority to go that far, but he was too angry to care. The trainee hesitated for a brief second and then went on his knees.

“…Ma’am, I’m so deeply sorry for my crude language. I said what I said in a moment of utter stupidity. I hope that you can find it in you to forgive this stupid fool.”

“You’re a fool alright.” Sabrina agreed.

“Fine. I’m not cruel and I don’t want to ruin your career. Besides, even an apology as fake as yours is better than nothing.” Sabrina said simply.

And with those twelve words she utterly ruined the career prospects of the boy in front of her.

Sabrina noticed Ash’s questioning look.

“I’m a very good judge of character. I can tell when someone is lying as if he’s shouting it of the roofs. That apology, no matter how genuine it sounded was fake. But don’t bother yourself with Runt, Ash. Let’s just go.”

Ash grinned as he realized what she did. “See that Runt? This lady was nice enough to give you a shiny new name for the rest of your time here. Oi sergeant Tracey!”

Sergeant Tracy was an orphan with no last name, but he had been given the nickname of Sketchit because he was damn good at drawing whatever he liked.

“What is it Ketchum?” The man asked.

“Meet Runt. He decided that he liked the name this lady gave him after he so stupidly insulted her. Make sure that you remember that for the rest of his training eh?”

Ash turned his attention back to the trainee in front of him. “Now get the fuck out of my sight, Runt.”

The trainee fled.

“That was nicely handled Trainer Ketchum.” A voice spoke up in the background.

Ash turned around in surprise and when he realized it was the commander, he saluted him immediately.

“At ease, at ease!” The commander said easily.

“How much did you see sir?” Ash asked carefully.

“Most of it. One of the trainee’s reported you were in and I came downstairs to hear Runt insulting that lady of yours. Very nicely handled, that. Do you want me to make his life hell, or will you let it go?”

“…Just make him regret ever having been so rude. There’s no need to keep bringing it up.” Ash decided.

“Sir.” He added hastily.

“Very well.” The commander agreed easily.

“Eh, should we go to your office sir? You wanted to see me after all?” Ash asked cautiously.

“Ah, yes. I did want to see you, but there is no need to go to my office. Let’s take a walk son.” The commander requested. Though, it was clear to Ash that it wasn’t a request at all.

“Yes sir.” Ash agreed and followed his superior.

“Sabrina, go through that door and you’ll find the canteen. They don’t have alcohol, but they have clean water and coffee. Go and get yourself something to drink.” Ash said quickly before he hurried to catch up with his superior officer.

“I want to reiterate, that you handled that very nicely. Having your Pikachu handle that poor brat might have been a bit too much if it had been at full strength. He’ll certainly notice it in the morning.” The commander repeated. As they continued to walk around the fort at a slow comfortable pace.

“Thank you, sir.” Ash responded clearly.

“Now, on to business then.” The commander began.

“You remember what I said yesterday, that I would be giving you and your class their orders?”

“Yes sir.” Ash agreed. “But I met Butter fré and his friends,’ cat and chit on their first mission.”

“Well, I received orders to send the best trainers of my graduating class out immediately. You were already too drunk to be useful, so I told them to leave you behind until you could catch up with them. Don’t get me wrong, you’re not in any kind of trouble for being drunk. I gave you all permission to go and have fun. It’s just damn inconvenient.” The commander muttered the last four words under his breath.

“Sir?” Ash asked with a confused frown.

“Gary, Misty and Brock left last night. Gary has command until you catch up with them. They told me where they intend to set up camp. Even though their orders are urgent, they will ride slowly enough that you will be able to catch up with them without pushing Scar beyond exhaustion.”

“Yes sir. But, what about the battle against that trainer we were supposed to have? And what about our badge tattoo?”

The commander reacted by kicking a random stone as hard as he could and spitting on the place it had just vacated for good measure.

“You know about that rivalry we have with other academy’s?”

“Yes sir, it’s supposed to in good fun, right? Not really all that serious, just bragging rights for the most part.”

“That’s the way it should be. But the trainer from Fort Mercer is someone you could’ve crushed when you just got here, even before you officially joined the program. The guy was at the bottom of his graduation class and only graduated on a technicality.”

“So, what did you say?” Ash asked curiously.

The commander shot him a smug grin. “I told him that your unit had already left and that it was just a formality anyway. I showed him the orders I had received, just the unclassified bits and then I send him on his way.”

“Very clever.” Ash noted.

“Ash… Son. The mission that your unit is on… I promise you that I tried to protest it as much as I could. I called in several favors, but it was pointless.”

“Sir?” Ash asked with a confused frown.

“What do you remember about the classes that dealt with undercover operations?”

Blinking at the abrupt change of subject, Ash answered the question.

“Trainers that go undercover are supposed to be given a handler and extra trainers to boot. It had this fancy term, but if you didn’t have proper support, you could potentially begin to sympathize with the people you’re supposed to arrest. That’s why undercover trainers need a lot of extra training and a lot of support.”

“Exactly!” The commander agreed. “That was my argument but your unit… Well, there are a lot of people who want it to fail.”

“Fail? My unit? Why? Wait, does this have something to do with Misty and Brock? Sir, they EARNED their place and I would gladly give either of them my number one spot if it came down to it!”

“Settle down, son. Settle down. I know you would. I know how good they are.” The commander reassured, with his hands held up.

“Sorry sir.” Ash muttered.

“You’re forgiven. Don’t worry about it. As you probably might have deduced, your unit has been given orders to infiltrate gangs as you encounter them and bring them to justice. You are to gradually work your way up, until you can find one of the bigger gangs still terrorizing our country. Your goal is to get a big enough reputation for ruthlessness so that when you approach team Rocket, they will not doubt you.”

It was quiet for a moment, and the commander saw that Ash clenched his fists before breathing in deeply.

“Team Rocket? Sir, are they INSANE? Team Rocket is… They are supposed to have spies everywhere! It’s likely they already know our orders! Fuck, even if we DO get a bounty on our heads, and assuming it gets big enough to get bounty hunters after us and assuming they already know, they are as likely as to knock us out and deliver us to a sheriff’s office as they are to kill us only to exchange us for the bounty! Either way, we’re dead, either by execution by bullet or by a short trip downwards and a snap of the neck, courtesy of the gallows!”

“I know.” The commander responded. “It is for that reason, that I have managed to acquire all of you full pardons, no matter what you do as long as you complete the mission.”

“And just how many gangs are we to bring to justice sir?” Ash asked.

The commander handed over a bundle of papers that described several gangs and bandits from all over.

“This is insane!” Ash muttered. “How are we supposed to arrange these people’s arrest and continue to escape capture at the same time?”The commander knew that to be a rhetorical question, so instead he decided to move on to the bright point of all of this.

“Consider this the first part of why it would be worth it.” The commander remarked, giving over the badge Ash was owed.

Ash accepted the badge automatically. As soon as Ash touched it, the badge glowed brightly and burned itself into Ash’s right arm as a tattoo.

“Sir. Just… How extensive is that bit? I mean, you said that I... I mean, my unit and I will be given a pardon no matter our actions? How long is it valid? Can it be made invalid? How many people know about this?”

Ash wasn’t sure how to formulate his question or if he wanted to ask it at all. Being given a pardon, which meant that anything he did in name of the mission would be forgiven no matter what and that was a big deal. Then again, if he was killed by accident, then this pardon wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on.

“I can see you already made the right conclusion.” The commander remarked.

“You’re right. If your body count gets too high or you’re taking too long for your mission to be completed, then there’s a good chance that you might hang. Literally. Hell, there’s a chance that you will hang, no matter what, if you get bad luck. Your badge will give you some protection of course but…” The commander just shook his head.

“Sir, could I ask a question with caps off?”Asking a question with caps off meant you asked it off the record.

“Sure, son, I feel I owe you that at least.”

“Could we potentially, deliberately, accidentally fail our mission?”

In other words, they could travel around, make it seem like they were trying, but that was only an illusion.

“No, son, I would advice against that. If you fail, whether it is on purpose or by accident, you would give those racist bastards ‘proof’ that women don’t belong in the army and the same can be said for people like Brock.”

“So, we really don’t have a choice.” Ash muttered. Of course, he could always resign. Then the military couldn’t do anything to them anymore. But it would mean the end for any talented female trainers or any trainers like Brock. They really didn’t have a choice but to comply with the mission. At this point, they had reached the front gates again and they came to a halt.

“What is my unit’s ultimate destination?”

“Their first stop is going to be Valentine. They’re going to try and wait for you there. After that it’s Rhodes and if you haven’t caught up with them there, they will be going to Saint Dennis. If for whatever reason, you still haven’t caught up, you will have to make do and track them down yourself. I left a map behind in your quarters and I marked the route your unit will be taking. Take whatever property you have in your quarters as well, because it will be reassigned to someone else. Anything else will be taken for the state. I will give you a note that will let you requisition money from mister Jack Dalton for supplies. I even informed the general store and the gunsmith to put your next purchases on my tab. It should be enough money to last you and that woman for months.”

“…Sir, what is it you know about her that I don’t? I mean, why are you so accepting for her to join me?”

The commander shrugged.

“You are the commander of your unit, son. You can do whatever you want with your money. If you want to buy the debts of one of the nicest women in Blackwater than that is your business. Whatever you do, or don’t do is up to you. Dismissed.” The commander left without looking back.

“Okay, so that just happened?” Ash muttered. He sighed and walked back to the canteen. Stepping into the canteen, he noticed that Sabrina had chosen to drink water while waiting for him.

“Sabrina, I’m going to go to my quarters to retrieve what’s left of my property. After that we go back to Blackwater, buy ourselves more supplies and try and catch up with the rest of my unit. I’ll fill you in onto the details when we make camp tonight. I’ll also have to go and requisition the money the commander promised, but it shouldn’t be a long wait.”

“As you wish.” Sabrina agreed.

“I’ll be waiting with Scar, outside.”

Ash nodded and left immediately. As soon as he entered his quarters he noticed it’s bare and empty look. Most of the memento’s they had gathered that would mean nothing for anyone else were gone. Only his own were left behind. Checking his hiding spot, Ash found his savings exactly where he had left it. He took out the entire bundle and placed it in his pocket.

“Looks like a visit to the bank is in order.” Ash thought absently.

Finally, he looked at the place he hadn’t wanted to check. He opened the chest and yup, there they were. The things he loved to hate and hated to love. This was probably the poorest kept secret in the Fort. Or in Blackwater for that matter. Well, for the ones that cared to remember at least. Nobody had ever dared to make a remark on it in his earshot, but that might be because of the commander himself. That and the fact that he had utterly trashed the last guy that had tried to tease him maliciously. He could handle teasing. It was to be expected. That guy had crossed the line though. Anyway, aside from him having beaten the fuck out of that guy, the commander had made sure he wouldn’t be able to find another job and he had been forced to move out or find himself on the streets.

Ash checked the last secret spot they used to share messages with and found a little of extra money as well as a short letter.

Commander Ash,

I don’t know what the commander told you, so I’m not going to go too deeply into detail. Operation security and all that. We were recalled yesterday evening when neither of us had, had too much to drink. You were already drunk out of your ass, you really can’t seem to hold your liquor.

Ash could just imagine the teasing smirk on Gary’s face when he wrote that.

We just left when you started making a lot of noise about some guy disrespecting a lady. I really wanted to have your back, but orders are orders. I asked good old ‘Red to keep an eye out. Or I would have if he hadn’t been drunk already as well. In the end, I bribed John to keep an eye out. You know the fella, big as a giant but dumb as a rock?

“Really Gary, that isn’t very nice. Jack is just very good at pretending.” Ash muttered.

Anyway, we managed to buy enough time to peek in the saloon and ask what happened. I’m not sure what you intend to do with the woman you bought the debts off, shy as you are. I know you have your reasons but… Though, it appears you aren’t very shy when you’re drunk. Apparently. Yhea, I could barely believe it myself.

Anyway, I am assuming that the commander already briefed you. I will meet you at the first rendezvous point and delay if I can. But you know I can’t do so for too long. So, get your ass moving. Sir. The commander said he would mark the route we’re supposed to take. But you know about plans and what happens to them when stuff happens. So, take it with a bit of salt. You getting me? We are at least half a day ahead of you, so don’t push Scar too far in your efforts to catch up.

Anyway, we’ll meet you on the first rendezvous point and I’ll see you then.

P.S

Burn this letter after reading it for operational security. Oh, and if that woman (don’t know her name) is going with you, be honest with her from the start. Give her the FULL story, yhea?

Gary.

Growling at the tone, Ash read the letter one more time before burning it as requested. Giving the room that had been his home for years one last look, he left the room without looking back. He went straight down to ‘the vault’ where the money was located that was meant to be used for missions.

“Mister Dalton!” Ash called loudly.

“Ah, Mister Ketchum. I was expecting you! The smaller man said cheerfully, appearing from somewhere out in the back. Here you go, five thousand dollars in small notes to last you until you get to valentine. And here is the credit note that you should give to the general store owner and the gun smith. Also, make sure to stock up on THOSE. You hear me?”

Ash wasn’t sure whether he wanted to gape, blush or do both.

“F-five grand? Seriously? What the fuck, I thought I’d be only be given a fraction of that for the entire mission!”

“You’re forgetting something, mister Ketchum.” Jack Dalton said seriously.

“And what’s that?”

“While I don’t know the details, I do know the type of your mission. NO, no. Don’t deny or confirm, it’s best not to respond. The commander is pissed that you’re giving a mission like that and he ordered me to put down an amount that would be enough for your mission to be successful. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that to be believable you would need to have a lot of money. As ‘proof’ of your misdeeds’ so to say.”

Ash opened his mouth to respond but then decided not to say anything at all.

“Having said that… I would strongly advice you to keep most of the money in the bank and to buy an assurance on it. It’s a LOT of money and bank robberies while not that common anymore, still happen. I can only withdraw this amount of money only once. Don’t get it lost, unless it serves a purpose, you understand me? Now, on you get!”

Ash left, still feeling half dazed. He had never seen so much money in his life!

“I guess I really will have to visit the bank. Probably make a second account as well. To keep things, separate. There is no fucking way I will carry this much money on me.” As Ash walked back out, he spotted the commander and he debated asking him about it. In the end, he decided against it. Jack had already given a reasonable explanation.

At the last moment, he changed his mind.

“Commander!” Ash called, as he saw the man walking towards his office.

“Ketchum? You still here?”

“Yes sir, I wanted to ask you something. Why in the Almighty’s name did you requisition me five thousand dollars?”

The commander just rolled his eyes. “Use your head son. If you want to be able to join one of those gangs, you need to have enough money to ‘prove’ you robbed your way towards them. You were lucky enough to not be identified each time because you prepared each hit properly.”

That was just about the same answer as Jack had given him.

“…It’s still a lot of money.” Ash insisted.

“You think you need more?” The commander asked with a frown.

“W-what? No! That’s not what I meant at all!” Ash protested.

“Talk to the bank in Valentine if you need more money. Don’t if you don’t need it. I trust you son. Now, you’re dismissed. I better don’t see you at the end of the day though! Dismissed.”

Ash just barely remembered to salute and to leave.

“What the fuck just happened here? Five thousand dollars is already a fortune as it is!”

Ash decided to just go along with it and think about it later. It only took him a moment to go over what still needed to be done. A few moments later, Ash arrived to where he had left Scar and he found Sabrina grooming him.

“I will need to buy her a good decent horse. She can’t always rely on Scar to carry her after all.” Ash thought.

“And if we’re in Blackwater anyway, I might as well replace my own guns as well. So a new horse for Sabrina, deposit the money in the bank, make sure they will notify the other banks in the state of my bank account so that I can withdraw money from all of them, and visit the general store for more diapers as well.”

Yhea, that was about it. Looking back at Sabrina, he noticed how happy she appeared to be and how relaxed both she and Scar looked. He felt kind of bad for interrupting, but he didn’t want to test the commander’s patience. He had delayed long enough as it was.

“Sabrina!” Ash greeted.

“Ash! Did you get your orders? Where is the rest of your unit?”

“I’ll explain on our way back to Blackwater.” Ash responded. He was already mounted and helped Sabrina to get on Scar as well. This time, he didn’t let Scar determine the pace, but went straight to cruising speed.

“Alright, it’s like this. The commander received emergency orders and was forced to deploy my unit last night. I was too drunk at that point apparently, so they left me behind to catch up with them. The commander requisitioned us enough supplies to get ourselves equipped properly.”

“But we just visited the general store and the smith!” Sabrina pointed out.

“I know. But that was when I thought I would have my unit with me. I don’t. I need a decent repeater, a shotgun and a rifle. Same goes for you.”

“Do you intend to fight a war or something?” Sabrina asked quietly.

“Something like that.” Ash admitted. “Listen, I’m going to get you a horse and a Pokémon as well if I can stretch my money enough. A single traveler and a woman are very easy targets. I intend to go down fighting if anyone is stupid enough to try and rob us but appearing armed enough to fight off half an army will hopefully stop it from happening at all.”

“Hang on, you can’t just say ‘something like that’ when I asked you if you were going to fight a war!” Sabrina protested.

“It isn’t a war per say.” Ash defended. “Look, we’re already near Blackwater. We need to get our shopping done and get back on the road to catch up with my unit. I’ll explain then.”

“If I’m supposed to pay all of that with those five hundred dollars you gave me, I’ll be penniless again in short order. I think I need a better explanation than that.”

“You don’t need to spend as much as a single dime.” Ash responded. Everything will be paid for by what was requisitioned to us. But you’re right though, I do owe you a better explanation. But the day is almost over, and I want to get back on the road as soon as is practical. I really don’t want to ride during the night if I can help it.”

Sabrina opened her mouth to protest but Ash was faster.

“I registered you with the commander as my unit’s maid. Well, not with the commander but I did fill in the necessary paperwork to hire staff. You are part of my unit now and getting paid a well. That’s why I said you won’t have to pay anything from those five hundred dollars I gave you. How are you at wielding a revolver or a pistol?”

“I... I’m not liable to shoot myself in the foot. I can clean a gun and I can take care of it. But I’m not very accurate with actual shooting. But you’re a good shot right, so I can provide cover fire and you can finish them off?”

“True. But very few people are as good as I am.” Ash agreed.

Shaking his head, Ash redirected the conversation back on track. “Enough stalling already. We need to get going. Go back to the gun smith and purchase extra ammunition. Enough so you can practice every day and still not risk us running out. Then go to the general store and buy more supplies. I’ll be at the bank and after that, I’ll need to visit the general store for a personal issue. We’ll meet at the stable.”

“As you wish.” Sabrina muttered.
X
Back at the fort, Commander Giovanni watched the boy and his new maid ride away. He had meant what he said earlier. Team Rocket, gang Rocket, just the Rockets or whatever else you wanted to call them were a relic of the past. They needed to be destroyed and that boy was the one to do it. That didn’t mean he was going to make it easy on them though. Perhaps he could arrange a talented duo with that weird Meowth to bother and try to impress him along the way… That boy would need minions of his own if he wanted to be believable after all… And those three had a lot of potential…
X
Sabrina did as she was instructed and visited the gun smith. The guy knew who she was and told her that she could buy whatever she wanted. Sabrina told him what Ash had said about a rifle, a repeater, shotgun and enough ammo for her to practice. They haggled a bit about it, and the gunsmith advised her on what to buy as an extra gun, but eventually, she left the store, feeling armed enough, to be able to fight through an entire army.
After that, she visited the general store and ordered more supplies. Though she did tell him to keep it on the side, since she was carrying enough weight already.
Finally, she walked towards the stable and saw that Ash was already waiting for her. She wasted no time in giving the guns over and dropping the rest on the ground. As soon as Sabrina looked over the horses, she fell in love with a beautiful Rapidash. It was the most expensive animal in the stable, but it was well trained and had a good character. In the end, Ash paid the amount asked and they left again.

“Let’s go to the general store to pick up the supplies I ordered and then…”

“Then we leave immediately.” Ash finished for her.

“But not before I smuggle the diapers into my saddlebag.” Ash thought. “Even though it’s pointless to do so, since I’ll be telling her about them tonight. But for now, I want to delay that moment as long as possible.”

Finally, not even fifteen minutes later, they had handled all their business and they could finally be on their way.
X
An hour later…
“…And that’s when my mum died. I was lucky that the commander was in town back then. Apparently, she and him were childhood friends. Anyway, the commander took me into the fort. Had me act as the servant boy first and when I showed myself to be talented when interacting with Pokémon, he had me training with the rest of the men. Then I met Gary and that’s a whole different story.”

“I see.” Sabrina said politely.

“…”
“I talked too much didn’t I? I’m sorry, but I tend to talk and talk when I’m nervous about something.”

“You talked a lot, but that’s okay. I want to get to know you.” Sabrina answered. “And what is there to be nervous about? You’ve got nothing to hide. Trust me.” She said with a lustful wink. “I’ve seen men older as you with equipment much smaller as yours. And you aren’t even finished maturing!”
Ash flushed, half from embarrassment and half because he liked her stroking his ego. He looked upwards and noticed that the sun was getting low. It would be getting dark sooner rather than later. Sighing, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to delay the truth for much longer.

“Let’s start looking around to set up camp. I prefer to find something defendable, to discourage Pokémon from attacking us.”

“You think it likely for the local Pokémon to be attacking us?” Sabrina asked with a frown.

“Probably not.” Ash allowed.

“But hunger has been known to override their natural fear of humans. And Pikachu might be a small fellow but he’s tough and quick on his feet. It’s scar we need to watch out for. He gets outright vicious if something pisses him off. Or worse, when someone attacks me. He’s a very good judge of character. Did I already tell you about that?”

“Yup.” Sabrina agreed.

“Oh.” Ash muttered. “Well, the point is that I would rather avoid that since that will end up with our supplies being burned to a crisp.”

“Ash! Over there! Isn’t that a good place for the night?” Sabrina asked as she was pointing. It was getting dark rapidly, but it was still light enough for Ash to realize that Sabrina was right.

“Pikachu, go and check it out!” He ordered swiftly. Pointing with his hand.

“Be careful though. Might be those Geodude Pokémon. Brock told us about a few weeks ago.”

The little mouse chittered something and jumped off Ash's shoulders. The Pokémon approached the rocks very slowly. Taking its time and smelling the air several times. Then the mouse relaxed and turned its back towards the rocks. Something it would not ever do if it had sensed a Pokémon hiding there.

“Good. It’s safe. Let’s setup camp. I’ll brief you and we’ll talk about wages and stuff. Then I’ll come clean. Just know that… You’ll probably not be able to resist a few teasing remarks and for tonight, I’ll tolerate them. To get them out of our system. Just for tonight though. Are we clear on that?"
“I’m confused, but I agree not to tease you too much. Whatever you’re going to tell me, it can’t be too bad right?” Sabrina asked.
Ash didn’t answer and focused on setting the camp up instead. That only took about fifteen minutes if you included the traps, he setup. Once they were done, they relaxed in front of the fire.

“Alright, so here’s what the commander told me.” Ash began, and then he told her everything he knew.

“…So, now you know what I mean when I said that we’re sort of going to be fighting a war, but not really.”

“I do. But you haven’t scared me yet.”

“You’re not worried that we eventually will be going against the law? That we might face execution? Either by gun or by the rope?”

Sabrina didn’t answer immediately and looked thoughtful instead.

“I thought so. Anyway, let’s talk about your wages, shall we?”

Sabrina and Ash haggled about it for a while and then that too was settled.

Finally, Ash could no longer delay the conversation he had been dreading any longer.

“Alright.” Ash sighed. “I would prefer to not have to say this at all, but that isn’t realistic or fair, so let’s get this over with.”

“First, I’ll need to give you a bit of background and before you even think it, I’m not stalling. You need to know that, before you jump to conclusions.”

“Alright.” Sabrina agreed. “Take your time.”

“You remember that I told you that my mum died, and that commander Giovanni took me in? Well, a few months before that happened, I got mixed into a barfight. It was daytime, and the usual patrons were away leaving only a few strangers minding their own business. I was doing a few chores for the people around town, to earn me a dollar here and there and I was supposed to deliver something to the saloon’s owner.

Anyway, I don’t remember how or even why, but suddenly, there was this pair of gunslingers in the saloon, pointing their guns at each other and picking a fight with me straight in the middle of it.”

“Were you scared?” Sabrina asked.

“I don’t remember, but I think I was.” Ash answered.

“Anyway, back to the story. I don’t remember exactly what happened, but bullets started flying and I managed to find cover and I apparently tried to wait it out. Then, when their bullets ran out, they started a fist fight with each other. It’s a damn miracle that neither of them had as much as a scratch at that point. The point is that I got stuck in the middle of that and somehow one of their guns still had a bullet left and it went off and hit me here.” Ash said, pointing. The bullet went straight through, but it did a lot of damage while it did it. Anyway, apparently, I got pissed as hell and started throwing out a few punches myself.”

“That couldn’t have ended well.” Sabrina observed.

“No kidding. I got knocked out pretty quick but not before I got in few punches first.” Ash explained quietly.

“Those gunslingers didn’t like me getting in a few punches though, so they beat me black and blue on top of the bullet I took. By the time they were done I was unconscious, bleeding and I had peed in my pants for the first time since I was old enough to know how to use the toilet.”

“Well, it’s not like anyone could blame you.” Sabrina pointed out.

“Oh, I know. I got over the fact I wet my pants very fast. Only a moron would try to use that against me. Anyway, as I was saying, the innkeeper managed to grab me at that point and hurried me to the town’s doctor.”

“The whole experience must have been quit a shock to you.” Sabrina observed.

“Yhea, that’s true. I don’t really remember that I wet myself, but considering what happened afterwards, it’s only a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.” Ash answered.

“Anyway, I’m very lucky that the doctor knew what he was doing. He managed to stitch me up once he realized that the bullet went straight through and took care of me while I was still unconscious together with my mum and an aid. I was unconscious for nearly a month and they took care of me pretty much all the time, washing me, hand feeding me and changing me when it was needed. Then, when I finally woke up, I was in a better state but not by much. I barely had the strength to lift a spoon let alone that I could feed myself or that I could go to the bathroom on my own. I admit that I threw a big tantrum at that treatment, but the doctor told me to get over it. He said that I was old enough to understand that I didn’t have any other choice.”

“Must have been quit a hit to your ten-year-old self’s pride, right?”

“Damn straight.” Ash agreed. “But the man had a point. “So, I shut up and endured being fed, washed and changed when I ended up soiling myself.”

“But that wasn’t your fault though.” Sabrina pointed out.

“It wasn’t.” Ash agreed.

“It was still humiliating as fuck, but like I said, I kept my mouth shut and tried to get better. And I did get better eventually. I regained the strength to eat on my own, then I started walking again and eventually I could go to the toilet on my own. But… Many times, I didn’t even realize I had to go when I found myself with soaked trousers or worse. The doctor said that it was because of the bullet I took and because of the beating those two gunslingers put me through as well as the fact that I was slow to toilet train when I was a baby, I guess. Eventually, the daytime accidents began to grow fewer and fewer in number and I got to the toilet on time again for the most part. The doctor said that it still might happen from time to time, and that it might get worse in the future, but for now, I can keep my pants dry during the day and God damn, that sounds childish when I say it like that.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Sabrina said with a wave of her hand.

“…The night time accidents on the other hand… They didn’t stop. They got worse instead of getting better. I’m told that I am a very heavy sleeper and even when they tried to wake me up during the night, it didn’t make much of a difference. Ash explained.

“That’s why you wear diapers during the night?”

“I’m coming to that, but yhea, pretty much.” Ash agreed.

“Anyway, this happened a bit earlier, before it got better, but I was very unhappy and angry about the fact I had to wear diapers during the day and the night and that EVERYONE knew about it. Some of the town folk even went as far as to diaper check me, which really pissed me off, but there wasn’t anything I could do about it. I remember the doctor telling me that I could go without, but I would have to take care of the laundry and let me tell you, it is far less embarrassing to simply throw a soiled diaper into the trash than it is to hang out yellow sheets out to dry where everyone can see it.”

Sabrina nodded to show that she understood what he meant. “Do you experience a lot of day time accidents now? After all that happened, I mean.” Sabrina asked.

“They happen but are exceptionally rare.” Ash admitted.

“But I do find myself with slightly damp underwear every evening. It’s why I tend to replace them every couple of months. That’s practically guaranteed to happen. I’m nearly done though, so let me finish telling the story. The next couple of months I was slowly getting used at wearing diapers during the night. When I finally began to get better… My momma died. She just… Stopped being alive. One moment she was fine and the next… I would like to clarify something here. Before my momma died, I only woke up with wet diapers with the very rare messy ones. After she died though… I don’t know, but after that, that began to happen like clockwork, if you get what I mean.”

“That can’t have been fun to realize.” Sabrina muttered.

“At that point, after the funeral, I began to live on my own, but I realized pretty quick that I would need to get a job if I wanted to keep my home. It was at that point that Commander Giovanni, my mum’s lover and the town’s doctor had a long conversation with me, to discuss my future. Diapers are expensive, and I was only ten years old at the time. The commander took me in and I acted as a servant boy. I cleaned the fort and did other chores to earn me a small wage while the commander put anything that was left on the side. That’s how I ended up in the military. The commander was kind enough to give me a small allowance out of his own pocket and even admitted to putting small amounts of money aside on top of what I had left of my wages. He said that I would be allowed to get access to it when I graduated or when I fucked my first whore. Whichever came first. I spent the next couple of years, studying and training, I got to know my unit and they knew about my reliance on diapers pretty much from the start. Anyway, fast forward even more when I woke up next to you and well…”

Sabrina stared and realized what he was hinting at.

“I know right? It’s a God damn miracle that I didn’t soil the bed alongside you with it. I don’t know what I was thinking that made me think it was EVER a good idea to get drunk. Well, that’s my story in a nutshell. If you want to leave my company at the next town, you can do so, and I’ll even pay you a month’s wage as well, so you-" Ash stopped talking because Sabrina’s hand was over his mouth.
“First of all, I promise I won’t deliberately tease you about that. I can promise you that much.”
“Really? No insults? No insults towards my intelligence? Huh, that makes for a nice change.” Ash remarked coolly.

“Your friends do any of that?” Sabrina asked.

“No way.” Ash shook his head. “They…” He paused, pondering if he wanted to admit to that as well?

“They never said anything to hurt me deliberately.” Ash said eventually. “I will tell her about them changing me on another time, since I can’t expect her to do it for me.” Ash thought.

“You know that I visited the general store? Well, that was so I could stock up and he gave me his personal recipe to give to other general store owners. They’re designed to fit my personal needs.”

“Well, like I said, I will not tease you on purpose.” Sabrina repeated solemnly.

“Alright then.” Ash said with a nod. “What about you? What’s the big secret you’ve been keeping?”

“Blunt, but I suppose I might as well just spit it out. I am an incredibly powerful psychic, I can understand Pokémon as if they were talking our own language and I can read the memories and thoughts of other humans like you would read a book.” Sabrina answered honestly.

“I can’t tell him the full truth yet, but this is close enough that I won’t feel too guilty.”

“…What?” Ash repeated with a frown.

“I am a very powerful psychic.” Sabrina repeated.

“Could you explain what that means again? I mean, I know you already did but-"

“It’s fine Ash.” Sabrina said, interrupting him.

“Being a psychic basically means, that I can understand Pokémon as if they were talking English. When you hear them repeating their own names, I literally hear English and it takes effort from my part to hear what regular humans hear.”

“Okay, what about the rest?”

“I can communicate with other Pokémon with my mind and I can read the memories and thoughts of humans as easily as you open a book. Distance isn’t much of a problem either once I’m familiar enough with the one I’m trying to reach.”

“So, if you knew my friends, you would be able to contact them from here?” Ash asked.

“If I knew them I could.” Sabrina confirmed.

“There is something that confuses me though, if you really are that powerful, I’m not saying that you aren’t, but if you really are that strong, why didn’t you use poker or another game to win money and earn money that way? Either to win the money to pay for your son’s illness or so you could pay that loan shark a bit quicker?”

“You… You aren’t panicking? Not accusing me of stealing your memories or anything like that?”

“Well, ARE you?” Ash asked with raised eyebrows.

“No! I wouldn’t do that deliberately and if I do, I try to forget and ignore everything I hear by accident.” Sabrina replied immediately.

“Then I don’t think we will be having a problem.” Ash said simply. “But back to what I asked, why didn’t you use your power to get the money you needed for the loan shark?”

Sabrina grimaced as she considered how to answer that question without Ash asking the questions she did NOT want to answer.

“Ash… I will tell you a story, but… Just listen to the story I tell you and please don’t ask too many questions? Not right now. Please? I mean, you can ask, but can you just accept it when I tell you I don’t want to answer?”

She paused. Ash had told her his deepest secret, for her to not do the same was horribly unfair. But her secret, the FULL truth, was much more serious. It could end up with him dying.

“I know that’s horribly unfair, considering you just admitted to a secret like that, but I swear I won’t keep it to myself forever. I will even promise not to hide it deliberately, so you can try and figure it out on your own? Oh! And if you somehow figure out the whole truth, I will do whatever you want for a month. Well, anything short of murder or rape.”

“That’s fair enough. But I’ll hold you to that promise! Besides, I shared my secret with you, because I wouldn’t have been able to hide it from you and because I wanted you to know the truth, so you wouldn’t jump to the wrong conclusions.” Ash tried to reassure her.

“To answer your question, I try very hard not to use my power to my own benefit or advantage because of a promise I failed to keep to my son. It is because of that failure that I swore a new oath that I wouldn’t use my power to my own advantage except to safe my life. But I didn’t just fail to keep to that promise, I also betrayed my father when I broke it.” Sabrina answered.

“I told you that my son got sick right?” Sabrina asked with a sigh.

“Yes. He got sick and you borrowed money to try and cure him.” Ash summarized.

“Right. The boy I call my son isn’t one I gave birth to. But one I adopted. He had the same talents as I and I tried to teach him the best I could. Doing so, broke the promise I made to my father. Doing so ultimately caused my son to die.”

“Why? Why would your son die just because you taught him to use the same talent as you have?” Ash asked with a frown.

“…”

“Okay, you don’t have to answer that. I’m sorry, I know I promised not to ask too many questions.”

“Thank you.” Sabrina said gratefully. She had made her choice. She would tell him the truth, the full truth on another day. She knew she could trust him, but she wanted to test his character all the same. Let him try to figure it out on his own or she would tell him after a while herself.

“May I ask you a few questions about your power?” Ash asked.

“Sure, I guess.” Sabrina answered.

“How does it work with people again? Can you stop yourself from even hearing thoughts? I’m not asking you to do it, I’m just asking if you can and how hard it would be.”

“Well… I can seal my power away for at least a few hours. But it is tiring and extremely uncomfortable. You must understand that under normal circumstances, only those that have a similar power like myself can keep a secret from me. My power is THAT powerful. Aside from the humans with a psychic talent, there isn’t a human alive that can keep a secret from me. When I seal my power… It’s like… Holding your breath for as long as possible and then, just when you’re at your limit, you allow yourself to breath, but you only take the tinniest breaths possible.”

“So, in other words, you could keep it up, if you really wanted to but it would take effort and concentration not to breath in as you would normally.” Ash surmised.

“Exactly so.” Sabrina agreed.

“That’s why I tend to ignore what I hear. It goes in here and it goes out right on the other end.” Sabrina explained, touching her left ear first and then her right. The only times I pay attention are when I pick something up relating to murder or rape. I make murderers confess but the rapists… I have neither mercy nor compassion for those bastards. It’s best not to ask what I do to them, but other than that, I ignore what I hear, and I try to forget any secrets I hear.”

“It has to be exciting, knowing the secrets of people like that.” Ash half stated, half asked.

“Not really. That gets boring fast, trust me on that one. Most people don’t have anything to hide, except for things like how much money they have, how corrupt they may or may not be, if they would like to fuck their own gender, their opinion on other races or so many other things. Believe me, once you heard it once, you’ve heard it a dozen times. I have made it a part of my personal code of honor that I will not reveal secrets I pick up that way except if they are rapists or if they have murdered someone without provocation. But I focus more on the first than the latter.” Sabrina explained.

“Does that mean you already knew my secret?” Ash asked.

“Well, yes and no. I knew, but I didn’t pay it much attention. Of course, when you were telling me that story, I couldn’t help but pick up on your memories.

“Does that mean she heard what I thought before? That my unit was ordered to do it for me and that I wasn’t allowed to do it on my own? Because I’m really bad at it and because I end up with leaks if I do it on my own?” A pause.

“Fuck, well if she didn’t hear it before, she does now. Sabrina, please for the love of anything, don’t say anything about this, unless I ask you to?”

“I knew about your secret but only in a distant sort of way.” Sabrina answered.

“But I realized just about the same as you did, that you couldn’t hide it from me and you would have to come clean with me. So, I allowed myself to remember until you told me yourself.”

“Hey, Sabrina… What would you have done to that loan shark if you hadn’t met me?”

“I don’t know exactly.” Sabrina admitted.

“The man betrayed me. He fully knew what I used the money for and he knew I would need time to get his money back. If you hadn’t interfered, I think I would have simply forced the matter and ‘convinced’ him to give me enough time. I wouldn’t have paid the interest though, just the money he owed me as a punishment.” Sabrina explained.

“That’s it?” Ash asked.

“Well, depending on how much effort it would’ve taken, he may or may not have forgotten how to read or how to count. But the point is moot since I didn’t do anything of the sort.” Sabrina added.

“Anything else?” Ash pressed.

“Well, yes. If he had pushed the matter, I would have escalated things even further.” Sabrina replied.

“Now you made me curious, but something tells me I don’t want to know, so just remind you not to make you angry enough with me that would make you want to do something like that.” Ash responded.

“Seriously, If I ever do something to make you that upset with me, tell me so I can grovel and beg for your forgiveness. Because anything else would be better than forgetting how to read or how to count. Ash added with a shudder.

“Don’t worry, if you ever did something bad enough to make me angry with you, I would simply put you over my knee, and make you cry like a baby.” Sabrina tried to reassure him with a grin.

“A spanking?” Ash asked with a blush.

“No way! It’s bad enough that I have to wear diapers during the night, I wouldn’t let you escalate into doing something so juvenile.”

“Oh, really? And I thought you just said that anything would be better than forgetting how to read or how to count? Isn’t a spanking a small price to pay?”

“…I wouldn’t let you do that without a fight though.” Ash responded.

“You wouldn’t remember that you are supposed to fight me if you ever got me that angry.” Sabrina said with a wide toothy grin.

“Besides, resisting would only worsen the punishment, so be glad that I would do that for you.” Sabrina pointed out logically.

“And if I don’t want you messing with my head like that?” Ash asked with a raised eyebrow.

“What would the alternative punishment be then?” Sabrina asked. “Because it has to be something that you wouldn’t enjoy, or it wouldn’t be a punishment to begin with.”

“…Let me think on that for a while.” Ash answered.

“And in the meantime, I will just default to a spanking. Don’t worry though, it will only be as painful as the punishment deserves.” Sabrina tried to reassure him.

“Besides, are you really telling me that you are going to come up with a punishment you won’t like yourself? I don’t believe that for a moment.” Sabrina said mockingly.
Ash just growled but he knew that she had a point. Besides, part of him knew that she could make the punishment both painful and humiliating, so perhaps a spanking was the best he could get. Ash took a deep breath and nodded to show that she had a point and that he agreed to that punishment when it was appropriate.

“A spanking is much preferably compared with forgetting how to walk or talk. Or worse.” Ash thought suddenly. Images of him being hand fed, being carried and basically acting like a baby assaulted his psyche, making him feel both confused and aroused.
Sabrina, who had unwillingly followed every thought and image, frowned. “Humans. I will never understand them.” She thought with a sigh.

“Don’t worry. Like I said, I will warn you should you ever be doing something that would make me really angry with you.” She repeated not for the first time.
Ash nodded and when he looked at the sky, he realized they had been talking for hours already.

“Let’s prepare for bed.” He said instead. Then he realized that he either had to ask for Sabrina to help him, or to try and do it himself and hopefully do it right for a change. Hesitating for only a moment, Ash forced himself to fetch diaper from his saddlebag as well as something to wear during the night since they could be very cold. He stripped naked and clumsily began to tape the diaper on himself.

“Ash.” Sabrina said sharply.

Ash froze and looked up. He flushed as he realized how ridiculous this scene had to be for an outsider. A sixteen-year-old teenager, naked and in the process of holding a thick disposable night time diaper between his legs.

“Do you want me to help? I’ve done it plenty of times with my son when he was sick.” Sabrina offered. Giving him an excuse. She had heard that Ash wasn’t supposed to do it on his own. So, he could use this as an excuse.

“Though, I suppose I should warn him that he shouldn’t lie. Perhaps I could drop a subtle hint that I’m not pleased with liars might get him more cooperative. But he doesn’t know that I heard his thoughts… But he should’ve realized it by now. Hell, he DOES know that I know that he knows. Okay, and now I’m confused.”

So instead of threatening him with that spanking they had discussed just a moment ago, she gave him just a slight nudge to accept her offer. It wouldn’t work if he was really against it, but it would be enough to get him to decide.

Ash stopped and considered it. He knew very well that he was very bad at it, and he had already told her about his issues. Perhaps he should swallow his pride already and just let her do it already?

Ash just nodded but couldn’t bring himself to say the words out loud.

“Could you do it for me?” Ash asked. That being the most he could bring himself to say.

“Okay, first of all, give the diaper here and lay down on the blanket.” Sabrina ordered, taking swift control of the situation.
Ash opened his mouth but then closed it again with a click. He felt like a naughty child that hadn’t wanted to be diapered and was now forced to give it back after being chased or something. Then he lied down and waited. Closing his eyes and intending to just do as he was told. Sabrina stretched the diaper in her hand a little and she then grabbed ankles with one hand, holding them together and ordering him to lift his but for her.
Ash did as he was told, and Sabrina frowned when she noted that Ash hadn’t cleaned up the last time he had gone to the toilet and that the situation was mildly erotic for Ash, apparently.

“None of that!” Sabrina thought and with just a tiny amount of psychic power for her, Sabrina put back Ash junior back to sleep, before it could wake up completely. Ash didn’t notice that his growing erection stopped growing midway and had gone back to its flaccid state.

Sabrina then used her power to ensure that junior would remain asleep to at least the afternoon of the following day. Unfortunately, Sabrina didn’t really understand what this could do to the psyche of a teenager. Because right now, she had unintentionally erased all the hormones from Ash's system, leaving him in a more child like mindset who was entirely uninterested in sex. This would have later consequences, but for now, Sabrina continued in ignorance.

“Let me show you a trick I picked up in my travels.” Sabrina said. “It’s a magic trick, see?”

“I don’t have anything in my hands, right?” Sabrina asked.
Ash made a show of examining them and then shaking his head to show that he agreed that there was nothing there.
Rolling her eyes, Sabrina continued.

“There is nothing up my sleeves, either right?” She asked again.
For a second time, Ash made a show of examining both her sleeves and then shaking his head solemnly.
“Yes, you will.” Ash agreed.
“Now, pay attention, now I hold nothing and now…” She whirled her hands in several random ways, quickly and suddenly she was holding three items that she knew Ash had bought and had put in his saddlebags.

“Wow!” Ash cheered. Applauding for her enthusiastically.

Sabrina just thought he was messing with her and ignored his antics.

Taking his ankles again, she pulled them up, aided by a bit of her power and used the wipes to clean his bottom properly. After cleaning his bottoms up properly, Sabrina applied a good amount of cream and powder before taping the diaper shut again.

“How did you get those items just like that?” Ash asked with a frown, once she was done. Right now, he was only wearing a diaper and nothing else, but he had gotten over that already.

“That’s a secret.” Sabrina answered, and she tweaked his nose and poked his stomach. Ash let out an immediate giggle that he stifled a moment later.

“Oh, is someone ticklish?” Sabrina asked with large grin.

“Don’t you DARE!” Ash protested, trying to get away, but she had him pinned to the ground.

Poking him in the stomach a second time, made Ash giggle a second time.

“Oh, I don’t know. I think that someone has forgotten so say the magic word to me because I did such a good job.” Sabrina teased.

“I don’t want to say it.” Ash scowled.

“Saaaay it.” Sabrina insisted. Poking him several more times in the stomach. Ash laughed again, and this time Sabrina continued to tickle him for several moments longer.

“Thank you for diapering me.” Ash said finally.

“And?” Sabrina pressed.

“You did a much better job than what I do when can do it for once.”

“Oh?” Sabrina asked. Pretending not to know what he was talking about.

“Yhea, I’m not supposed to do it on my own. My unit is supposed to do it for me.”

“And what about me then? If you aren’t supposed to do it on your own… Do I need to tickle you more?” She threatened with a teasing grin.

“No! Really, please stop tickling me, because if you do, I will pee involuntarily. It’s bad enough that I never know whether I will wake up clean as it is, I really don’t want to do it while I’m awake.”

“Then say it already.” Sabrina said fondly.

Ash sighed deeply but realized that nothing much would change for him in the end.

“Sabrina, I’m not supposed to diaper myself, well, technically, I can do as I wish but if I do so myself, I never do it as well as if someone else did it for me. So, could you please do it for me in the future either permanently or until we catch up with my unit?”

“Seriously though.” Sabrina said, deciding that the fun was over with. “I don’t mind, but you would have to tell me what that would mean. No more teasing, I promise, let’s just make this an adult conversation now.” Sabrina said.

“Well, there aren’t any rules per say.” Ash admitted. “I only had to say to Gary that I wanted to do it on my own and he would let me. But the consequences would be mine.”

“Meaning?”

“Wet sheets at least.” Ash answered.

“Anything else?”

“Well, as long as I don’t say anything, Gary had complete control over it.” Ash admitted reluctantly. “He did put me in diapers during the day a couple of time. I have no idea how he knew, but those times they ended up being used. Unwillingly mind you. I never could figure out how he always knew when to do so and when not.”

“And you would agree that I have the same… Authority?”

“Yhea, I guess.” Ash replied.

“So, just to make this clear, because I want to avoid any misunderstandings. If I decide to put you into a diaper tomorrow morning, you would go along with it?”

“Yes.” Ash answered firmly.

Sabrina was quiet for several moments and then made an offer she hadn’t even considered making until right now.

“I... I could make you not care.” Sabrina offered hesitantly.

“What?” Ash asked with a frown.

“Well, you admitted that your day time accidents are unpredictable right? And I’m guess that the only reason you don’t wear during the day is because you’re dry for the most part.”

“Well, that’s not entirely true. My underwear is always a little wet.” Ash corrected.

“Well, I could make you not care anymore. Even if you end up having to wear a diaper literally all the time. You wouldn’t give a damn anymore. I could do that for you. Imagine, you wouldn’t have to worry about the opinions of other people anymore.”

“Would it really be that simple?” Ash asked with a frown.

“How so?” Sabrina asked.

“Because it sounds to me like it isn’t quite as simple as to say, ‘don’t be embarrassed anymore.’ How much can go wrong if you do something like that?”

“Hey, I'm plenty experienced enough to know what I’m doing!” Sabrina said defensively.

“What is it that you want to do exactly?” Ash asked after several moments of silence.

“If you agree to let me do what I want to do, then you wouldn’t even blink twice when you put on diaper tomorrow morning after changing out of this one. You wouldn’t care anymore.” Sabrina tried to explain.

“…Well, the doctor did say that something like that would happen eventually. Having to wear all the time I mean.” Ash admitted.

“Besides, I’m your maid, aren’t I? I’m supposed to serve you in whatever capacity I can.”

‘…’

“Wouldn’t it be better to make it not an issue at all?” Sabrina pressed.

“I suppose so.” Ash answered reluctantly. He was already convinced, he just didn’t want to admit to it too easily.

“In that case, you agree with me that I will take care of diaper duty from now on?”

“Yes.” Ash said simply.

“But if you aren’t around, I’ll still do it myself.” He added after a moment.

“Reasonable.” Sabrina agreed.

“Then it is settled. From now on, I will have full authority on when you wear diapers.” Sabrina stated, and she enforced it with a touch of her power.

“Are you sure you want to deal with the messy diapers as well?” Ash asked with a frown.

Sabrina rolled her eyes. “Ash, I can assure you, that I’ve seen and changed plenty of stinky diapers in my time. Yours won’t be any different. What about the embarrassment issue though? I honestly think you will be much happier if you let me do what I want.”

“Oh, alright already!” Ash snapped. His patient had been worn out. He trusted Sabrina to do what was best for him.

“I will let you do whatever it is you think you need to do so I won’t be embarrassed anymore. You can change me whenever you like, and you can decide when I must wear. I’ll give you complete authority to enforce the issue as well. There is one line you aren’t allowed to cross though.

“And that is doing what exactly?”

“You will not, under any circumstances, except the most extreme of circumstances, when it’s a matter of literal life or death, start to talk down to me like I’m a baby. That’s a line you will not cross or… I’ll…” Ash paused for a moment as he tried to figure out what he would do but couldn’t think of anything severe enough right at that moment.

“I don’t know what I will do to you yet, but I will make damn sure that you will not like it!”

“Don’t worry Ash, I understand.” Sabrina answered. She closed her eyes and considered what words she should use and after several minutes of thinking about it, she settled on what she wanted to say.

“When you wake up tomorrow, I will have complete authority over when and where you wear a diaper. When you wake up tomorrow, wearing a diaper is normal. When you wake up tomorrow, using the diaper is normal. When you wake up tomorrow, you will not care if your diaper is wet or messy, because either state is entirely normal, unimportant and you’re completely used to it.”

She reinforced those words with a good amount of psychic power, ensuring that they would settle deep into Ash's psyche. Unfortunately, Sabrina still didn’t understand just how powerful she was compared to a normal human who only had a talent for interacting with Pokémon to his name.

Her first mistake was not asking Ash what he thought about her choice of words. Her second mistake were the words themselves. Her third mistake was overpowering the suggestion to the point of overkill. Her fourth mistake was her lack of understanding of human psychology. Her fifth and final mistake was that she did not monitor how her suggestion settled. Because while it acted normally in the beginning, it began to twist and mutate shortly after she stopped paying attention. By the time it was done, it still was mostly the same with a few very important differences…

Now that the conversation was over with, Sabrina removed most of her clothes as well. They then laid down onto the blanket in the tent and held each other close to share body heat. Then they fell asleep.

THE NEXT MORNING…

Ash yawned deeply and slowly opened his eyes. Right now, he felt more relaxed and rested than he had in months. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. It only took him a moment to remember why he was camping out in the wilderness, simultaneously remembering that Sabrina now knew the full truth and that she had somehow managed to convince him to let her deal with his soiled diapers. A quick diaper check confirmed that for once, it was dry and unused.

If Ash had not been under Sabrina’s power, he would have been incredibly happy and incredulous, but happy, nonetheless. As it was, Ash barely registered that his diaper was dry and clean. His next chosen action would show just how much Sabrina’s suggestion had influenced him. Ash busied him with making coffee and cleaning up and while he was doing so, he did not register that his bladder emptied itself, shortly followed by his bowels. The fact that he had soiled his diaper was registered but dismissed as unimportant. Instead, he sat down and enjoyed the cup of coffee he had just brewed.

Once the coffee was gone, Ash decided to change into a new diaper since Sabrina wasn’t around to do it for him. That HAD been the agreement after all. She wasn’t around, right now and he didn’t know where she was or when she would be coming back. He would finish the cleaning up of the camp and then he would change himself. Ash decided.

“Pikachu, keep an eye out for intruders.” Ash ordered.

The mouse Pokémon made a noise of acknowledgement, but it didn’t move where it was lounging by the fire. Its ears showed that it was paying attention though.

“Guess, he doesn’t sense anyone around.” Ash thought absently.

The sun was rising, and the temperature was rising steadily from ‘uncomfortable cold to tolerable. It wouldn’t take too much longer before ‘tolerable’ would change into comfortably warm and then back to uncomfortable hot.

Finally, the coffee was gone, and Sabrina still hadn’t shown up. Ash decided he had given her plenty of time, so he might as well get to it.

It still hadn’t registered with Ash that he had used his diaper when he was fully awake after he had checked whether it was used or not. Ash removed the tapes of the diaper and let it drop onto the ground. The smell informing him sooner what was in it then the sight did.

“What the fuck?” Ash thought.

“How the fuck did THIS happen? More importantly, WHEN did it happen?” Ash thought with a frown. He was sure that the diaper had been dry and clean when he had checked when he had woken up. It was then that Sabrina’s suggested kicked in again and it made Ash dismiss the whole thing as utterly unimportant.

“You know what? It doesn’t matter, because it isn’t important. I’ll worry about it never.” And with that, Ash dismissed the possibility that his reliance on diapers might be getting worse from his mind and continued to take the wipes to clean himself up properly.

Ash busied himself with cleaning up to the best of his abilities. The fact that he didn’t have an erection for once, didn’t even register to him. If anyone had pointed it out, he would’ve just stared at you as if you had said something incomprehensible. But nobody was around to notice and so the moment passed unobserved.

“Pikachu, remind me to take a bath at first opportunity okay?” Ash said absently.

“Pika!” The mouse agreed.

Ash began to dress himself and it was only when he was about to tape a fresh diaper on that he paused for a moment. Was there something wrong with what he was doing? Ash continued to lay on the ground, thinking and after several moments he remembered that he wasn’t supposed to wear during the day if Sabrina didn’t say it was okay.

“But I pooped without even realizing it, and the damn thing was soaked to near capacity as well.” Ash thought.

He hesitated but decided to tape it shut anyway. It was just a precaution. But as soon as he taped it on, it felt entirely normal and it didn’t even register anymore that he was wearing a diaper. Ash never noticed his bladder emptying what was left without his permission. Once Ash was fully dressed, he wrapped up the soiled diaper and got Scar’s attention.

“Scar, incinerate the package I’m throwing in the air!” Ash commanded.

Instantly, the Ponyta was ready to go. As soon as Ash noticed that Scar was ready, he hurled the wrapped package into the air as high as he could. Scar obeyed Ash's instructions and a moment later, the diaper was reduced to nothing but Ash.

“Good job!” Ash praised. Now that the evidence had been destroyed, it was time he found his wayward travel companion.

“Pikachu, did you see where Sabrina went?”

The mouse mimed walking and pointed towards the south.

“She walked into the forest on her own?” Ash asked.

“Damn it, doesn’t that woman know how dangerous it is to be out on her own?” Shaking his head at the foolishness of going into Pokémon territory without even a single Pokémon to protect you, Ash tried to decide what he should do next.

“Okay, first things first. Clean up camp and remove all traces it was there. If she hasn’t returned when I’m done with that, I’m going to go and look for her.”

Wasting no more time on the matter, Ash got to work in cleaning everything up. He had done this plenty of times before, so it didn’t take him all that long to do it. Finally, Ash was ready and after taking one more look around, he concluded he had done everything he could do, and he had delayed as much as was reasonable.

Riding Scar was risky but having him in his poké ball meant it would take precious time to send him out if there was need.

“And once again, I’m confronted with the fact I need another member on my team.” Ash thought to himself.

“I have no other choice but to keep Scar out.”

“Scar, Pikachu, let’s go. Stay alert but don’t do anything without provocation.”

Both Scar and Pikachu nodded to show that they understood. Ash looked around, trying to find Sabrina’s trail and once he did, it didn’t take him all that long to start following it. The tracks led him further and further into the woods and deeper into wild Pokémon territory. Ash continued to follow the trail slowly, trying to act as non-aggressive as he could. Scar was following on foot and Pikachu was chittering nervously on his shoulder. The mouse knew it could handle most Pokémon, but he could only do so much!

“I know buddy, but as long as we don’t intrude for too long, and get out as soon as possible, I’m sure we can avoid a fight.” Ash muttered quietly. Trying to reassure the electric mouse.

Ash continued to follow the tracks until he finally found her in the middle of a clearing. A dozen Pokémon he didn’t recognize on sight were sitting around her, all chittering at her and Sabrina responding like she could understand them.

“Of course, she can understand them. She told you about that yesterday!” Ash reminded himself. He hated to interrupt a peaceful scene like that, but he was sure that he was only avoiding a fight by sheer luck. He wanted to get out of Pokémon territory as quickly as possible. His Pikachu was a strong little fellow, but even he could be overwhelmed.

Ash coughed lightly to get their attention. The result was instantaneous. The peaceful moment was shattered as the Pokémon sensed his presence and scattered into every direction.

“Did you have to do that?” Sabrina complained.

“I was worried.” Ash answered. “I’m sorry for interrupting a beautiful scene like that. Truly, I am. But I thought you might have gotten into trouble. Pikachu is tough, but he can only do so much, and I really want to avoid getting Scar involved.”

“You won’t be attacked as long as you continue to act as you have. The Pokémon sensed your intent and will leave you alone.” Sabrina reassured him.

“Fair enough, I suppose. Do you know what kind of Pokémon they were? The ones sitting around you?” Meeting new Pokémon always interested him.

“Abra Pokémon.” Sabrina answered.

“The Abra are the first and the weakest of a three-step evolution chain.” Sabrina explained.

“Truly?” Ash asked with interest. “Could… Would they show themselves again? I swear I won’t try to capture them, I just want to observe them. Maybe draw a picture of them if they will let me?”

“You can draw?” Sabrina asked with surprise.

“I’m not as good as Gary.” Ash admitted. “But I do well enough to show what I meant to draw, or failing that, I have a good memory, I can direct Gary in how they looked like.” Ash was distracted by the Pokémon that had scattered earlier, reappearing from the bushes, slowly and unsure. They looked at him carefully and Ash opened his hands to show that they were empty. He then went on his knees, so he was about the same height as the Pokémon themselves.

“They will let you come closer.” Sabrina translated for the Abra.

“-If you crawl.” She interrupted, as Ash was about to stand up. A small white lie, but she wanted to see how far he would go for an opportunity like this.

Frowning, Ash debated if he should do it or not, but his curiosity to study the Abra Pokémon won out. He crawled closer and examined the Abra as they stood around, watching him closely. The diaper bulge was obvious to anyone that knew how to look for it and it made Sabrina very confused. Why was he wearing a diaper during the day anyway?

Sabrina cautiously reviewed his memories and thought processes and she knew immediately that she had fucked up and had fucked up big time!

“Sabrina stared at the metaphorical monster that her suggestion had mutated into.

“How? WHY did it change into this?” Sabrina asked herself. Even a glance told her that this would be absurdly hard to remove. She MIGHT be able to weaken the suggestion and MIGHT be able to change it to something better. But doing so could mutate it even further! But the longer she waited, the more powerful the suggestion could become. Even ten more seconds could mean the difference between removing it, weakening it or not being able to even touch it.

“Actually no, it will not mutate anymore without a reason. It will only do so if it feels threatened.” Sabrina corrected herself.

“But I only meant for him to not be embarrassed about his use of diapers anymore. I didn’t mean for it to escalate into not caring completely. He’s like… Well, I don’t like to say it even in my thoughts, but he’s like a toddler in how he thinks right now. He’s aware he’s wearing a diaper, but it doesn’t register if he used it or not. Fuck. This is bad. Really, honestly Bad. Bad with a capital B! Why… WHY did it mutate into this?”

Taking a deep breath, Sabrina went over any possible explanation and then removed the ones that were impossible.

“Enemy psychic?” Nope, not a chance in hell.

“A deliberate mistake or desire from my side?” No. I didn’t intend for this to happen!

“My wording?” Yhea, possibly.

“A subconscious desire for this to happen from either me or Ash himself?” Possibly.

“My wording, combined with a subconscious desire from Ash his side?” Yhea, that sounds more reasonable.

“What I just said and me using far too much power?” Yhea, I think I have a winner.

“Okay, so what do I do first?” Sabrina asked herself, trying to remain calm.

“I’ve got to weaken the suggestion I made. Drain its power sufficiently that it will erase itself naturally. Only… Do I want that? If it erases itself, that means there will be nothing left to change. That means that this… Will become the new normal. No! This is unacceptable! The drawing! I can use that to my advantage, have him focus on that, so it gives me the peace and quiet I need to try and undo the damage I did!

“Sabrina, will it be okay if Pikachu fetches my things, so I can draw them? He knows where the items are.”

“Right on time! Perfect!” Sabrina thought.

“Yhea, sure.” Sabrina responded immediately. Trying to sound relaxed and calm.

“Pikachu, go and fetch me some paper and a pencil, would you?” Ash requested.

“Pi!” The mouse responded. It hurried towards Scar who had been keeping a respectful distance and the mouse retrieved the requested items with ease. Bringing the items back to Ash earned the mouse a promise for several treats as a reward.

Once she was certain Ash was focused on his drawing, she focused her attention back on trying to remove her suggestions and if that wasn’t possible to at the very least weaken them considerably!

“Okay, so draining the power that is behind the suggestions is a no go. It would delete itself naturally, but the way Ash thinks now would become the new normal. This is unacceptable. I can try and weaken the suggestions by modifying the words I used… But that could backfire on me as well. Hell, I don’t even know the full consequences as they are NOW! I could also use brute force to remove it, force it to comply but… That would leave metaphorical shards of glass behind. Those would either do nothing… Dispersing safely or… They could make it even worse. Hell, CAN it become worse?”

That was a good question. One that she couldn’t answer very easily because that meant questioning Ash and possibly even making him realize-

“No, Ash is incapable of understanding what is wrong with the current situation. But I still have to TRY!”

Right now, Ash cared as much about his diapers as a toddler did, which meant that he didn’t care at all. He didn’t care if he had already soiled them, didn’t care when he wore them or if he was in the process of soiling them. So technically she had achieved her original goal about getting him over his embarrassment.

“Maybe I should just change the wording a little and pay close attention if it will mutate again? I can tell that his body was hurt when he was younger, just like he told me. He would have been forced into day time diapers eventually anyway. Okay, step one. Drain just a bit of its power so that it can’t mutate itself anymore. That way, I can at least be reassured that it won’t get any worse! I think taking about a third of its strength should be safe to see what it does.”

That would make sure that it couldn’t mutate in unforeseen ways anymore. As she was draining the power it had, Sabrina sensed that it was regaining power very slowly as well. Sabrina stopped what she was doing and gave it a mental frown.

She continued to observe it and it was only when it had regained the power it had before, that it stopped gaining strength.

“The only explanation to THIS is that he has a weak talent for psychic abilities as well.” Sabrina mused. That meant that draining its power to near nil was out as well. Because Ash would instinctively make it stronger again. Because to him, changing the suggestion so he would care about his diapers again would not be normal.

It was possible that he would instinctively redirect a bit of power to keep the suggestions active even at minimum strength if he sensed it wouldn’t erase itself naturally.

“Okay, new plan. I will overpower the suggestions and replace them with new ones. Right now, Ash doesn’t care that he is wearing a diaper, he doesn’t care if it is used or not or if he is soiling it or not. I better consider my words very carefully, because if I fuck this up…”

Inhaling sharply, Sabrina took care to restrict her power, so it wouldn’t accidentally act on her desire to fix the current situation in unpredictable ways.

“I still don’t want him to care about having to wear diapers in general. But what I want to avoid is that he doesn’t care COMPLETELY. Like a toddler that doesn’t care whether he wears a diaper or not. Or if it is soiled or not. Here goes.

“Ash Ketchum, you still don’t care that you have to wear diapers during the night. Whether they are used when you wake up in the morning or not, it doesn’t matter. You will still wear diapers during the day, but you will be aware of them. You will feel when you need the bathroom and you will remove the diaper to use the toilet when required-"

Sabrina was about to continue when she realized to her horror, that even these suggestions were about to mutate as well. Sabrina lashed out with her power, taking the suggestions, protecting them with her power and then taking them back. Sabrina observed and to her eternal gratitude, she had managed to stop the whole thing from getting worse. If only barely.

“What went wrong?” Sabrina wondered. She had used enough power, that was for sure. Then it hit her in the metaphorical face.
Ash's natural power flat-out rejected her suggestions, because the ones she had given it last night were now considered to be the new normal. Ash's power would have used these new suggestions to make it closer to what it thought was right. For as much power can think at least. Then she felt Ash's power turn the metaphorical key into a locked position and Sabrina knew. She wouldn’t be able to do anything, short of rewriting Ash's personality now. The only thing she could do was try and toilet train him during the day, but she knew in advance that there was no real point in trying.
Characters:

Ash Lee Ketchum:
I intended this as a joke. At first, I wanted to write Ash as a character like Haku. (reference to a character of Naruto.) A person where you can’t tell immediately if you’re dealing with a girl or a boy. Ashly can be the name for a girl after all. Just look at Ashly Williams. (reference to Mass Effect)

Sabrina Hanako:
Hanako is the Japanese version of Delia’s name. (Ash’s mum.) But I thought it a bit… Weird to use Delia so I decided to just use it as a reference instead. Just to be clear, there won’t be anything like ‘Ash, I am your mother’ with Ash going all like ‘no, it is impossible.’ (reference to Star Wars)

Scar:
A Ponyta. Ash’s means of transportation.

Kurama:
A Rapidash. The evolved form of Ponyta. I confused it for a moment with ninetails. I thought ninetails was the evolved form. (really didn’t think that through.) Anyway, I decided it was as good a name as any, so I went with Kurama. It’s a reference to Kurama from Naruto and to Kurama from ‘Yu Yu Hakusho, spirit detective.’ Two favorite anime of mine.
Ranks: (the descriptions below are just an approximation. That means that there isn’t anything really defined. It also serves as an aid for myself.)

One badge: Proof of graduation and competence. Equivalent authority of deputy law enforcement.

Horse speeds
A horse’s average walk is roughly 7 kph or 4.3 mph.
A horse’s average trot is about 13 kph or 8 mph.
A horse’s average canter is between 16-27 kph or 10-17 mph.
A horse’s average gallop is about 70 kph or 43.97 mph. (for short distances only apparently)
